Wok it! Blackstone it! Just do it! With Mis Rubin’s Original All-Purpose Marinade!! You can surely prep your own, but this one is created with the kitchen assistant, also known as your grocer’s salad bar and produce department. Exact measurements aren’t required either. This “throw together” recipe is also great for farmers’ market shopping for in-season veggies that you love most. Gather your family’s favorites to stir up a really quick dinner that will take about 30 minutes to prepare. No worries if you don’t have a wok. Just use a big skillet or griddle.
Makes about 4 servings
From produce:
1 bag shredded “slaw” mix (we used a kale-broccoli mix)
1 large zucchini, sliced in 1/2” half-moon pieces
1 bunch scallions, sliced into 1” pieces
2-3 tablespoons garlic paste
1 bottle Asian salad dressing
From salad bar:
sliced bell peppers and onions
sliced mushrooms
broccoli (cut smaller if large pieces)
any others that suit your fancy
2-1” rib-eye steaks, cut into ½” slices
about 1 lb. raw shelled and tail off large shrimp
Pantry:
Mis Rubin’s All-Purpose Marinade
oil
toasted sesame seeds
Put steak and shrimp into separate zippered bags with plenty of Mis Rubin’s All-Purpose Marinade. Let marinate 20-30 minutes, moving about every once and a while to make sure all pieces are covered well.
Heat wok/skillet/griddle over high heat. Lightly coat with cooking oil.
Cook drained steak for a couple of minutes until desired doneness. Remove with slotted spoon and keep warm. Wipe wok dry with paper towels and re-oil. Return to high heat and cook drained shrimp, stirring as you cook, until done, about 2-3 minutes. Remove to bowl with steak.
Dry and oil wok again, return to high heat, and add all vegetables from produce and salad bar. Cook, stirring frequently, until crisp tender and larger pieces are getting a light char.
Stir in beef and shrimp, garlic paste and enough dressing to make as saucy as you like... just long enough for all to heat ( about 1 minute )! Be sure not to cook too long or beef and shrimp will become overdone and tough.
Remove from heat. Scatter with toasted sesame seeds and serve immediately... as is or over cooked rice
